Mobile Crisis Clinical Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Coordinator in our Mobile Crisis Management (MCM) department supports the region by providing clinical oversight, coordinating case assignments, reviewing documentation, and offering supervision and guidance to crisis response staff. This role ensures that clinical best practices are consistently applied in crisis interventions, that documentation meets all compliance standards, and that team members receive support and development in their clinical practice. The Clinical Coordinator does not have direct supervisory responsibility over staff but plays a key role in maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.

WORK DUTIES AND TASKS

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Oversight and Documentation Review

Review and approve case documentation, including assessments, crisis plans, follow-up notes, etc. to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Provide feedback to MCW on documentation practices, offering guidance on best practices and areas for improvement.

Ensure timely submission and review of all clinical records and documents.

Case Assignment and Coordination

Assign clinical tasks, such as follow-up interventions, to team members based on case needs and staff expertise.

Coordinate with MCW to ensure that all cases are handled promptly, with appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.

Monitor the caseload distribution to maintain team balance and ensure effective resource utilization.

Clinical Supervision and Support

Provide clinical guidance and supervision to MCW, helping to support best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, and care planning.

Conduct one-on-one consultations or case reviews with team members, supporting them in handling complex cases or high-risk situations.

Ensure that all clinical supervision sessions are documented according to organizational policy.

Assist with staff onboarding, professional development, and performance evaluations in collaboration with the MCSS and Training Specialist to foster growth and retention.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

Conduct regular quality assurance reviews of case files, intervention practices, and follow-up procedures to ensure adherence to clinical standards.

Identify areas for improvement in clinical operations, working with supervisor and Regional Director to implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain high-quality service.

Ensure that the team adheres to all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements for MCM services.

Collaboration and Resource Coordination

Collaborate with Regional Director and Mobile Crisis Services Supervisor to enhance community partnerships, including hospitals, law enforcement, and other health and social services agencies, to facilitate coordinated care for clients.

Crisis Support and On-Call Rotation

Participate in the on-call rotation, providing after-hours consultation to MCW.

Offer guidance on crisis intervention techniques and ensure that appropriate clinical responses are provided during emergencies.

Training and Staff Development

Collaborate with Regional Director and Mobile Crisis Services Supervisor to identify training needs for MCW and coordinate supplemental training sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Support the professional development of crisis team members by sharing resources, conducting workshops, or leading case study reviews.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Key Qualifications for a Clinical Coordinator in Mobile Crisis Management

Education

Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related clinical field.

Licensed in both mental health and substance use. Full licensure preferred. Must be licensed in North Carolina.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years in clinical or crisis intervention settings, preferably within mobile crisis services.

Experience in coordinating and providing clinical supervision to crisis response teams.

Proven ability to manage high-acuity cases, including mental health and substance use crises.

Clinical Supervision & Support

Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and case consultation, guiding crisis response staff in best practices for intervention.

Strong knowledge of evidence-based clinical interventions for crisis situations.

Knowledge of Crisis Response Standards

Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., CARF, HIPAA, state regulations) for mental health and crisis services.

Understanding of crisis response protocols, clinical documentation standards, and service quality requirements.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance, conduct case consultations, and support staff in challenging cases.

Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with staff, community stakeholders, and clients.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills

Ability to assess complex clinical situations, provide guidance on case management, and offer practical solutions to ensure client safety and service quality.

Skills in tracking outcomes, reviewing clinical documentation, and implementing quality improvement measures.

Organizational & Time-Management Skills

Strong organizational abilities to manage clinical oversight for multiple teams and ensure timely support across cases.

Competency in prioritizing tasks, maintaining documentation standards, and adhering to timelines for client assessments and interventions.

Must be able to pass a criminal background and MVR check.

No criminal convictions of child abuse or violent crimes.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must be able to keep strict confidentiality and work with diverse populations.
