Lead Nurse -Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The BHUC Lead Nurse RN is responsible for providing nursing care and clinical assessments for individuals served at the Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) center. This position includes supervision of Nurses, Medical Office Assistants and Behavioral Health Technicians. The BHUC Lead Nurse position also includes collaboration with prescribers, and support of crisis stabilization efforts. The BHUC Lead Nurse ensures timely medical assessments, medication coordination, and adherence to Medicaid and BHUC standards for trauma-informed care.

WORK DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • 30% - Conduct nursing assessments and monitor clients' physical status upon arrival
  • 25% - Supervise, support and train incoming and existing BHUC Nurses, Behavioral Health Techs and Medical Office Assistant staff in the execution of delegated tasks
  • 15% - Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with Medicaid standards
  • 10% - Consult with prescribers on medication needs and medical conditions
  • 10% - Maintain scheduling of staff, completion of e3 timesheet approval/time off requests
  • 5% - Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and infection control standards
  • 5% - Administer or coordinate medication delivery under prescriber guidance

Must also be able to Perform or Provide:

  • Nursing assessment and clinical judgment
  • Team supervision, scheduling and communication
  • Behavioral health crisis response
  • Medication administration and safety
  • Documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of North Carolina.
  • At least 1 year of experience in psychiatric, emergency, or urgent care nursing.
  • Experience supervising or delegating to other Nurses, BHTs, MOAs, and CNAs preferred.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health crises, substance use disorders, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check, sexual offender check, health care personnel registry upon hire and annually.
  • No criminal convictions of child abuse or violent crimes.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to keep strict confidentiality and work with diverse populations
