GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To assist the psychiatric department with patient care and administrative operations. Must possess the following skills and knowledge: Advanced computer and calculator skills; Excellent coordinating patient relation and organizational skills; Excellent telephone skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Good filing, documenting, and recording skills; Adaptable, flexible and able to maintain effectiveness during change; Cultural Competence; energy and enthusiasm; Ability to work well with others and take directions. Ability to accurately complete patient vital signs and apply Universal Precaution in the medical setting.
WORK DUTIES AND TASKS:
Completes all administrative requirements including typing documentation and correspondence in a timely and efficient manner.
Adheres to all IFS office policies and operating procedures.
Greet and screen patients and determine whether they should be given access to specific psychiatric providers, directing patients to the appropriate psychiatric provider.
Manage and maintain psychiatric providers schedules.
Capable of operating a multi-line telephone console; Staffing the IFS phone-line and coordinating services of IFS patients.
Fulfills major administrative duties.
Completes Vital Signs on patients who present for psychiatric services.
Coordinating and Assisting with Laboratory Draws. Acquiring Laboratory Results and administering back to ordering physician.
Assisting with Administering Patient Clinical Assessment Screenings.
Discusses phone messages left for physicians and then returns phone calls to patients.
Keeps track of documents that physicians need to complete such as FMLA forms, school med authorizations, and informed consent for medications.
Requests records from facilities for continuity of care. Communicates with other outside agencies, facilities, offices and hospitals.
Performs other routine clerical work such as typing, filing, scheduling and mail processing.
Assists with prescription refills. Checks the prescription line, and assists the RN as needed.
Participates on inter-departmental committees as assigned.
Attends continuing education per professional and service requirements and as relevant to job duties.
Attend staff meetings and clinical staff meetings and training/events as assigned.
Attends a minimum of 2 hours of cultural competency continuing education per year.
Completes annual adult CPR and First Aid certification courses.
Completes annual TB tests and any other required competencies as outlined by the Human Resources Department for all staff.
Completes a performance evaluation in a complete and timely manner.
Serve as the IFS representative and liaison to community, local, state and or federal organizations and programs. Helps to maintain open, effective, two-way communication with the Local management Entity.
Collaborates with other mental health professionals on behalf of consumers to identify and assist in implementing necessary treatments or support services.
Maintains positive referral relationships with relevant community agencies.
Works creatively to positively impact service delivery by communicating with referring providers and fellow employees.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant Program (or pending enrollment)
Active Certification as a CNA or CNA II (or with pending completion of program and passing of state exam and registration as a CNA).
Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions in English accurately and in a timely manner is required, position is extremely time sensitive.
At least twenty-one years old.
At least one year's experience in the CNA field.
Must be able to pass a criminal background, MVR, and Healthcare Registry Check
A valid Driver's License and basic auto insurance.
Must be able to work/travel in both the Ahoskie and Greenville office locations.
Must be able to keep strict confidentiality and work with diverse populations.
